Self Care vs. The Hustle - Finding Your Balance

Tonight I watched a girl have a mental breakdown. Time had her backed up against a wall and she literally fought to breathe. With tears in her eyes she begged for more time - time to accomplish her goals, time to take advantage of all the opportunities that came her way, and time to breathe.

What hurt was how much I and so many other people related to her cry for help. It’s beyond overwhelming to have all these things you want to achieve before you reach a certain point in your life but have all these obstacles are in the way. You push so hard that your will power begins to deplete. Your body screaming for a break turns into procrastination. You burn out before you could even realize you’ve reached your breaking point.

I’ve been here many times before. I’m currently digging myself out of this hole as I write this. Our site has been suffering because both Ashley and I have been going through it. Life has been heavy. Obstacles have been hard to conquer. However, we’re getting getting back on track & things are falling into place.

I’m writing this as a reminder to myself, Ashley, and anyone else reading this who is finding it hard to keep climbing the ladder to success.

First things first, don’t forget to step back and take care of yourself. Take time to breathe and recharge. You’re no good to anyone else if you’re soul is depleted. Learn to take breaks, not quit.

When it comes to accomplishing your goals, stop comparing your story to others. Whether you’re on chapter 1 or chapter 15, it will not compare to someone else’s chapter 1 or how they got to where they are today. Everyone’s journey is unique and you must trust your path.

Lastly, nothing that is meant for you could ever be taken from you. There’s no such thing as a missed opportunity. What’s meant for you will be for you.

I cannot stress enough how important self care is. Lately, I’ve been neglecting myself and have been too caught up in life’s bullshit to realize it. My skin has been breaking out as soon as it gets the chance to heal and my energy depletes as soon as I get out of bed in the morning. I’m taking my own advice and on the road to doing better for myself. We all owe it to ourselves to do better and ultimately be better.

Be mindful of your wellbeing as you take on the hustle.
